Lino Prints
Next, looking a plant forms, students developed a design for a lino print which they printed in black and they explored further variety through colour. Their lino plates were then used to decorate a ceramic form.
To showcase the fabulous works, the students created a 2021 calendar so staff and students can admire their work all year long!
Cubist works
The last exercise in this unit of work was a Cubist inspired acrylic canvas developed from studies of musical instruments.
Landscapes - Urban & Natural
To practice with an ever-expanding range of media, students began this unit using ink and brush, painting in a Chinese style. We then moved on to learn how to use 2 and 3 point perspective so our landscapes would look correct. This was challenging for some!
Moving on to a more abstract approach students created an aerial, map-based drawing in ink and markers, before developing some very successful collage works directly based on the works of Robert Lee Davis. To finish the year students constructed an imaginary building in balsa, skewers, pine, string and natural logs.
