Year 8 Visual Arts
Year 8 is a mandatory course, where students study Visual Arts for 5 periods a cycle, for one semester then they swap over with Music.
For each of the 2 terms of Visual Arts students explored “Imaginary Worlds” then “Skulls and Bones”
Imaginary Worlds
Our year 8 students have proven themselves to be very imaginative and technically skilful, handling a wide range of media from graphite pencil to clay. While online learning they were able to develop drawing skills and explore original ideas looking at Surreal artist, Rene Magritte in particular as the case study artist for an assessment task.
Skulls & Bones
Back in class students really enjoyed our new unit of “Skulls and Bones”. This theme was explored in a number of ways including their own version of a Basquiat layered work, using contemporary techniques very successfully.
