Year 8 Music Elective

In this unit students explored the use of electronic music in hip hop and rap. The major project for this topic was the creation of their own personal rap which was all about them. For this task students had to write and perform the lyrics and create a backing track using pre-recorded loops and beat sequences.
In Year 8, students can chose to participate in a music elective which focuses on Music technology, Composition and Performance. This year students created their own Rap Songs and developed their composition and improvisation skills.
End of year performances
To celebrate an easing of COVID restrictions the elective music students formed bands and performed renditions of songs that use the 12-bar blues.
Each group had to include a rhythm section, chordal instruments and melodic instruments. An extra challenge was to include some solos to showcase their fantastic work!
