Year 7 Visual Arts

Throughout 2022, Year 7 Visual Arts students have investigated the world as a source of ideas and inspiration and explored how artists can represent aspects of their world and communicate ideas through artmaking. The four key topics students have explored include; "The world of..." places and spaces, nature and animals, people and portraiture and objects.

St Ives Archies

Every year, all Year 7 students participate in the St Ives Archies Portrait Competition. Much like the famous Archibald Prize, where well known artists paint a celebrity or notable person, the St Ives Archies involves students creating a portrait of one of their teachers.

The submissions were then voted for by the public visiting the St Ives High School Art Exhibition with honourable mentions are displayed at the St Ives High School Hall Entrance between 29th August - 2nd September 2022.

Objects

During our unit exploring objects, Students learned about the still-life genre and how objects often hold personal meaning and can be used as symbols with a work. Students experiment with form and technique, demonstrating their technical development and ability to refine artworks.
