Year 11 Visual Arts
Year 11 Visual Arts is the Preliminary HSC course, where students learn to work on their own original works developing a more sophisticated understanding of material and conceptual practice. They also study art theory through case studies and analysis of artworks.
Mark Making
As an introduction, students began mark-making to explore the potential of materials, mainly through drawing.
They were encouraged to try new techniques, new media and a variety of surfaces to stretch artistic possibilities and develop skills.
Shirts
Students then applied their understand to a range of drawings of shirts to demonstrate theory understand of material practice.
HSC bodies of work require a well-developed concept, so students then explored ways to demonstrate a concept related to “shirts” in whatever media they considered most appropriate for their idea.
Tension, Power & Chaos
Next, aiming at the annual art exhibition, students developed their own work , planning extensively in their Visual Diary.
They were given the choice of starting points to develop their ideas; Chaos, Tension or Power.
