Year 8 Illustration

Year 8 Illustration is an elective course and we had 2 classes in 2021. They were highly creative students who responded really well to a broad range of tasks and  variety of media.

Students in Year 8 Illustration engage in a range of drawing and animation techniques to develop technical skill and build confidence in their ability. They are encouraged to use their imagination to illustrate a range of ideas in different media including the following examples: caricatures and portraits of themselves, their pets and famous people; characters based on simple shapes, Gothic and graphic novel formats; and rotoscoped animations based on moving figures.

Animation

During Semester two, Students created Photoshop rotoscoping animation projects exploring movement, line work, colour and backgrounds. This was a time consuming but rewarding process for our students. Featured below are some exceptional projects by some of our 2021 students.

Students explored Gothic visual conventions and studied the work of Tim Burton, creating some successful drawings and graphic novels inspired by his life and style.
